Dear Valued Retailers,
You may have noticed an increased presence of street security in recent days. This additional support has been provided by the BID in direct response to your feedback regarding ongoing concerns around anti-social behaviour, shop theft, and break-ins across Loughborough town centre.
Yesterday, a team of four security personnel were actively patrolling the BID area, and for the first time since May, we received no radio callouts for shop theft—a very positive outcome.
Looking ahead to the weekend, an additional security surveillance vehicle will be stationed at Ward’s End, and the team will continue evening patrols on both Friday and Saturday nights. We have extended patrol hours until midnight, and are currently reviewing the possibility of extending these to 1:00am for future weekend night-time economy (NTE) coverage.
We’re pleased to share that the security team recently assisted local police in locating a male wanted in connection with business break-ins. The individual was identified and reported to Tango Victor, resulting in a successful arrest. The team also provided assistance to a member of the public who was found unconscious. While their work may not always be visible, it is important to recognise the critical role they play in helping to maintain safety and order in the town centre.
The BID has also been in direct discussions with the Council regarding the ongoing anti-social behaviour issues at Ward’s End. In particular, we are reviewing the placement of the telephone box and exploring measures to prevent street drinking in this area. These efforts are being undertaken in partnership with the local police.
To further support collaborative action, we are hosting a Call to Action meeting on Wednesday, 29th October at 5:00 PM, at John Storer House. This meeting provides an opportunity for you to share your concerns about crime in Loughborough. Representatives from the Council, the Police, N Security, and the BID will be in attendance.
