Welcome to the May Love Loughborough Newsletter

As we head towards the end of May, here’s an update on some of the Love Loughborough activity over the last month and plans for the next few weeks.

Digital Support

As part of our ongoing digital support for BID businesses we’ll be running a summer social practical workshop focusing on creating content through TikTok, reels and video. Building on the success of the cocktails and content event in February, this summer social will be held early evening at the beginning of July. Full details to follow.

Funding secured

Over the last few weeks you may have noticed our Love Loughborough Street Security team in the town centre. The team has been funded through UKSPF and is tasked with patrolling Loughborough town centre to deal with any issues BID businesses have concerning anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and crime related incidents. The team will be out visiting businesses five days a week over the next 12 months to help reduce crime and create a safer and more welcoming town. Leicestershire Promotions has also been awarded UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) through Charnwood Borough Council. The funding is to help promote Love Loughborough events and attract more visitors to the town. The focus will be on developing the existing offer, in particular the successful Gardeners’ Fair and attracting new audiences into the town including Group Travel Organisers and Coach Tour Operators.

Forthcoming events include:

The second annual Cocktail Week campaign is currently underway with eight town centre venues participating. Promotional activity includes a social media campaign, flyers and posters and in-store promos
The annual Love Loughborough Bike & Trike Meet is taking place in the town centre on Sunday 25^th May and is open to all bikers and enthusiasts. There’ll be a range of stalls including food and drink and entertainment.
The next Love Loughborough Gardeners’ Fair will return to the town centre on Sunday 1^st June. As well as a huge range of plant sellers there will also be artisan craft makers, food & drink stalls and entertainment.
This year’s Love Loughborough Car Show will be taking place on Father’s Day, Sunday 15^th June.

Loughborough in Bloom BID baskets will be installed at the end of this month and the official judges will be visiting the town on Thursday 10^th July.

Finally, we will be saying goodbye to Marina Loica our Night Time Economy Executive at the beginning of June. Marina has been an invaluable member of the team over the last 16 months and we wish her well in her future career. In the interim we will be covering her projects within the team and will keep you posted of future plans.
