BID’s Festive Lighting Scheme – Shop front icicles & High Street festive lights

We are regrettably having to suspend our festive lighting scheme for 2024.  Having far exceeded their shelf life, the lights are now not fit for purpose and need completely replacing.

Charnwood Borough Council, however, has invested in new festive lights for the town centre which will see a spectacular festive lighting display stretching from Church Gate to Ward’s End (including Biggin Street), High Street, Market Street & Ashby Square and new tree lights in Granby Street Car Park. The coverage will extend significantly from the core areas previously lit up.

BID will continue to seek future external funding for reinvestment in the shop front scheme, but we are sure that the town will look very impressive this year with the investment provided by Charnwood.

Car park review

Thank you to everyone who submitted their objections to the council’s car parking review. We have the following update:

'The consultation has now closed, and we are working through the responses.  Depending on what these tell us we will be providing an update to our Cabinet to advise of the findings and if there are any changes to the proposed charging schedule that was consulted on.  We will then be taking a report back to Cabinet to make a final decision on the parking charges.  It is currently planned for this to be in December, but this is subject to change at this time. We will keep you informed on the process and subsequent decision.'

We will be in touch soon with another Loughborough BID update.
